Coppicing
Coppicing is a highly sustainable method of producing useful wood without the need to replant. It is a form of woodland management that stretches back thousands of years. Our ancestors discovered that when trees were felled the stumps would grow a multitude of small, fast growing stems. Coppicing remained an important rural industry into the late 19th Century. The economic value of coppice woodland is slowly increasing as more derelict coppice is brought back into rotation and worked once again. There are now grants available to help pay for the restoration work needed in order to return the coppice back to its former glory and levels of productivity.
Here at Sussex Logs we offer professional woodland management advice and directly undertake coppicing services throughout Sussex and Surrey. We also undertake tree surgery and felling.
Sawmill
We offer a full milling service using the latest Peterson equipment. We can work with you to maximise the potential of your woodland, creating planks, boards and much more instead of letting prime timber merely being used as firewood.
